Ali Rahimi

The title “Life” for the egg project emerged from the first image that came to my mind: a human embryo in the mother’s womb — a place where life begins and where breathing and everything we need to live starts to take shape.

In many animal species, the egg is a symbol of birth and the beginning of life, and the embryo represents the starting point of human birth. 

Alongside these two, plants are also one of the fundamental elements of life around us.

In this artwork, I try to create a conceptual connection between these three living elements , the egg, the embryo, and plants , referring to the cycle and continuity of life.

About Ali:

”I am Ali Rahimi, born in 1994 in Daikundi Province, Afghanistan. A significant part of my life has been shaped by the experience of migration. I have been engaged with painting for nearly twenty years and have practiced as a professional artist for the past six years. Much of my artistic work is conceptually informed by my lived experience as a migrant, and many of my works explore the social and psychological dimensions of migration.”

Titeln ”Liv” för äggprojektet genererade den första bilden som dök upp i mitt sinne: ett mänskligt embryo i moderns livmoder – en plats där livet börjar och där andningen och allt vi behöver för att leva börjar ta form.

Hos många djurarter är ägget en symbol för födelse och början på livet, och embryot representerar utgångspunkten för människans födelse.

Vid sidan av dessa är även växter en av de grundläggande beståndsdelarna i livet omkring oss.

I detta konstverk försöker jag skapa en konceptuell koppling mellan dessa tre levande element – ägget, embryot och växterna – med hänvisning till livets kretslopp och kontinuitet.

”Jag heter Ali Rahimi, född 1994 i provinsen Daikundi i Afghanistan. En betydande del av mitt liv har formats av erfarenheten av migration. Jag har arbetat med måleri i nästan tjugo år och har varit verksam som professionell konstnär de senaste sex åren. En stor del av mitt konstnärliga arbete är konceptuellt präglat av mina egna erfarenheter som migrant, och många av mina verk utforskar migrationens sociala och psykologiska dimensioner.”
